
Sweet Somas/Karchikai//Krishna Jayanthi Sweet//Janmashtami Recipe- Sweet//Gokulashtami Recipe//
A simple sweet recipe for krishna jayanthi or janmastami or diwali "Sweet Somas" with nuts and coconut fillings.
Equipment
- 2 bowl
- 1 deep fry pan
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup All Purpose Flour /Maida
- 2 tbsp Semolina/Rava/Sooji
- Salt
- 2 tbsp Ghee Hot
- 3/4 cup Water Hot
- 1/4 cup Desiccated Coconut/ Fresh Coconut//Copra Fillings/Stuffing's
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1/4 cup Cashews
- 2 no's Cardamom Powder
Instructions
- Dough : Mix all the above (salt, ghee , semolina/rava/sooji/ maida/all purpose flour)by adding 3/4 cup of water little by little to form a smooth dough .Cover and Rest it for 20 minutes
- Stuffing's: Fry the coconut with 1 tbsp ghee to a light brown colour or till the aroma comes out. Cool it.
- Then fry the cashews till light golden brown. Grind it coarsely.
- Powder the sugar. Add all the 3 and mix it with cardamom powder. Stuffing is ready.
- Making of Somas: Take a lime size ball roll it and flatten with a rolling pin to a circle shape . Place 1 tbsp of stuffing in the center fold it to form a semi circle. Seal the edges tightly so that the stuffing's does not come out. Repeat the same.
- Deep fry till golden brown in a medium flame. Repeat the same.
- Store it in a container. Serve it.
