A simple sweet recipe for krishna jayanthi or janmastami or diwali "Sweet Somas" with nuts and coconut fillings.

Equipment

  • 2 bowl
  • 1 deep fry pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup All Purpose Flour /Maida
  • 2 tbsp Semolina/Rava/Sooji
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp Ghee Hot
  • 3/4 cup Water Hot
  • 1/4 cup Desiccated Coconut/ Fresh Coconut//Copra Fillings/Stuffing's
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cashews
  • 2 no's Cardamom Powder

Instructions
 

  • Dough : Mix all the above (salt, ghee , semolina/rava/sooji/ maida/all purpose flour)by adding 3/4 cup of water little by little to form a smooth dough .Cover and Rest it for 20 minutes
  • Stuffing's: Fry the coconut with 1 tbsp ghee to a light brown colour or till the aroma comes out. Cool it.
  • Then fry the cashews till light golden brown. Grind it coarsely.
  • Powder the sugar. Add all the 3 and mix it with cardamom powder. Stuffing is ready.
  • Making of Somas: Take a lime size ball roll it and flatten with a rolling pin to a circle shape . Place 1 tbsp of stuffing in the center fold it to form a semi circle. Seal the edges tightly so that the stuffing's does not come out. Repeat the same.
  • Deep fry till golden brown in a medium flame. Repeat the same.
  • Store it in a container. Serve it.
