How to make Ven Pongal with rice , yellow lentis/moong dal/pasiparuppu cumin seeds pepper and ghee.

Equipment

  • 1 Pressure Cooker Instant Pot
  • 1 pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup Raw Rice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Moong Dal/Pasi paruppu/Yellow Lentils
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • Salt
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 10 no's Cashews Chopped
  • 5 tbsp Ghee
  • 5 no's Curry Leaves Chopped

Instructions
 

  • In a pan dry roast the lentil/dal for few minutes 1 or 2 minutes in a medium flame .
  • Wash the rice and dal or lentil with water 3 times drain the water. Pressure cook the rice & lentil/dal in 1 cup of water with salt till mushy or cook in Instant Pot.
  • Mash the rice dal mix by adding 1/4 cup milk.
  • Heat a pan with ghee add cashews fry till golden brown colour. Take it and place it in a plate.
  • Add the cumin, black pepper, curry leaves fry for a 10 seconds add the Pongal/rice dal mix and mix it by adding the fried cashews.
  • Serve with coconut chutney.
