
Ven Pongal
How to make Ven Pongal with rice , yellow lentis/moong dal/pasiparuppu cumin seeds pepper and ghee.
Equipment
- 1 Pressure Cooker Instant Pot
- 1 pan
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Raw Rice
- 1 1/2 tbsp Moong Dal/Pasi paruppu/Yellow Lentils
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
- Salt
- 1 cup Water
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 10 no's Cashews Chopped
- 5 tbsp Ghee
- 5 no's Curry Leaves Chopped
Instructions
- In a pan dry roast the lentil/dal for few minutes 1 or 2 minutes in a medium flame .
- Wash the rice and dal or lentil with water 3 times drain the water. Pressure cook the rice & lentil/dal in 1 cup of water with salt till mushy or cook in Instant Pot.
- Mash the rice dal mix by adding 1/4 cup milk.
- Heat a pan with ghee add cashews fry till golden brown colour. Take it and place it in a plate.
- Add the cumin, black pepper, curry leaves fry for a 10 seconds add the Pongal/rice dal mix and mix it by adding the fried cashews.
- Serve with coconut chutney.
