
Yam Kootu Curry/Onam
A quick easy South Indian Side dish "Kootu Curry" with yam,coconut ,cumin and green chillies.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Elephant Yam
- 1 nos Red Chilli
- 1/2 cup Shredded Coconut
- 1 tbsp Shredded Coconut to add at the end in coconut oil to golden brown to add to the curry
- 1 nos Green Chilli-
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
- 5 nos Curry Leaves
- 1 tbsp Coconut Oil For Seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Mutard seeds
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Salt
- 1/2 cup Water for cooking Yam
- 1/4 cup Water For Grinding
Instructions
- Grinding : Grind 1/2 cup oconut,cumin, black pepper ,green chilli,and red chill to a smooth paste in a blender.
- Cook Yam by adding 1/2 cup water ,salt and turmeric powder till soft
- Add the ground paste mix it and cook for 3 minutes .
- Switch off flame.
- Season with 1 tbsp oil, mustard seeds ,curry leaves.
- Add coconut shredded 1 tbsp till golden brown in the oil and add to the curry
- Mix and serve.
